THE CLEVER Boys kick off with a new coach, new logo and six new players.
The team played in their first Castle Premiership match on Wednesday. They drew 0-0 against Jomo Cosmos at a cold and windy Mehlareng Stadium in Tembisa.
Not bad for their first match.
New player, Clive Moyo-Modise, says, “I don’t think people should be surprised when we do well.”
“We’ve got really good players and a new coach that is really good.”
The team was introduced on Monday at the Matrix along with the new logo.
They have changed their colours from blue and yellow to navy blue and white, that now sport the Bidvest branding.
Of the six new players, there are some familiar faces.
Clive Moyo-Modise and Dale Studzinski are the two new strikers who previously played for Rochdale F. C (England) and Supersport United.
Valery Nhyaho (Cosmos) gave a good defence and blocked Studzinski every time he tried to score a goal.
Calvin Sosibo who previously played for Maritzburg United was signed as the new winger.
Other new players include Neil Winstanley, a defender previously with Mamelodi Sundowns, and Cameroonian Bienvenu Tipa, previously of Bloemfontein Celtics, who plays midfielder.
Winstanley also guarded the backlines incredibly well offering the opposition no chance for a goal.
The new coach has already made changes, says Moyo-Modise, who now plays the right wing.
Moyo-Modise says that the adjustments have brought a good change and that his new position seems to be working better for him as well as for the team.
The next game is a home game against Orlando Pirates next week.Moyo-Modise says that he is optimistic that the team will do well.
All tickets for the league will be sold at Computicket.
